A tour that combines the two most characteristic quarters of Ganada: the Muslim quarter and the gypsy quarter. Both are located on hills with breathtaking views of each other, and always of the beautiful Alhambra. Both quarters are full of history and beauty... and also of hills!
We head to the Sacromonte neighbourhood where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Granada and the Alhambra. Sacromonte is a picturesque and idyllic place, on the outskirts of the city centre of Granada, home to the gypsies of Granada.
From India, they came to Spain in the 15th century, after wandering through Europe and Africa. Traditionally they lived in the famous cave-houses of this quarter, which was portrayed with great skill by the poet Federico García Lorca in his book "Romancero Gitano". We will then visit the old Muslim quarter. The Albaicín maintains the urban layout of the Nasrid period, with narrow streets that descend from San Nicolás, its highest area, to the course of the Darro River. We will contemplate the peculiar houses of the neighbourhood known as "Cármenes", which are woven in narrow streets full of cisterns through which the water of the area was channelled and distributed. As well as the marvellous views of the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada that this neighbourhood, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, offers us.
